Watched My Magic last friday. It was seriously a fantastic movie, I never cried so much in my life – Eric Khoo really knows how to touch his audience with his outpour of emotions of life and death in the film. The theatre was almost less than half filled with only like less than 20 people or so which was quite saddening. I guess only a few Sgs know how to appreciate local films.

Who would have thought how did Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana manage to pull off the designing of S/S09 collection with the combination of different styles. Of course, experimenting have been their forte. Let’s see – there were fishnets involved, knit swim caps, long cardigans, the beautiful patterned scarves..too many to name. They did an excellent job in paying attention down to the slightest details. Well done D & G!

Saturday was a fruitful one, my mum, fiance and I explored the Peranakan Museum @ 39 Armenian Street. I’m of Peranakan heritage, so it’s about time i get to know more about the Peranakan culture. I was totally amused by their rich history and artefacts. Peranakans are famous for their traditional sarong kebayas and their many expensive accessories.
My grandma owns one of these beaded slippers. In modern times, an authentic beaded slipper can cost up to thousands. It sure takes loads of sweat and hard work into doing these.

These shoes are the Mary Janes back in the 1920s. Oh yes, they already had this fashion back then.
These are the beaded craftwork done for the slippers before they become a final product.

Oh! Presenting the sarong kebaya now mostly worn by the older Peranakan generation. I’d love to wear one for my wedding.
And here’s me! The tee shirt girl on a casual day.
Tee: Jayjays (AU)
Jeans: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: From AU, can’t remember the store name. Got it for only AU$14.
